Café Kubal to add new location at Syracuse Hancock International Airport

Café Kubal will continue its expansion in the city by opening up a location in Syracuse Hancock International Airport.

Renovations are currently underway, and the new location is set to open on May 15, according to a CNYcentral.com article.

Café Kubal prides itself on quality South American coffee and community involvement, creating several partnerships with local businesses and farmers, according to their website.  This will be business’ fourth coffee house in Syracuse, joining locations in Downtown, Eastwood and University Hill. The cafe opened its 720 University Ave. store on Aug. 20 last year.

The cafe is going to be placed right after the airport’s security checkpoint, and about 80 percent of the people would pass by the shop, said Matt Godard, owner of Café Kubal. Hancock had nearly two million passengers in 2012, according to its yearly activity report.

The new storefront will have a 35-foot high ceiling – the highest of all four of the coffee shop’s locations, he said. It will also have a kiosk-like environment, with 12 feet by 12 feet area space behind the counter. The new store will look similar to the other store locations, with leather couches and seats scattered around the coffee shop, Godard said.

The new airport location will provide Café Kubal with a branding advantage and give the coffee shop a lot of credibility for their wholesale business, Godard said. He added that he hopes that this new location will allow him to spread the business to other markets in the Northeast region.

“The number one goal is to provide the same quality service that we provide in our other locations,” he said. “I’m excited to learn a different industry, within airport hospitality.”
