This year’s Mayfest lineup will feature hip-hop artist Vince Staples, EDM duo Louis the Child and pop rock band PUBLIC, according to a University Union press release. The three artists will take the stage in Walnut at 1 p.m. on April 29, the same day as previously-announced Block Party.

California-based artist Vince Staples first broke onto the hip-hop scene in 2012. That’s when he met rapper Mac Miller, who went on to produce Staples’s first album “Stolen Youth.” Staples took off across the United States 2014, opening for Isaiah Rashad and Juice Jam 2014 artist Schoolboy Q on their Oxymoron World Tour. His most recent album, “Summertime ’06,” came out in 2015. “Summertime ’06” features some of his best-known tracks, such as “Norf Norf” and “Señorita.”

Electronic music duo Louis the Child makes music with one goal in mind: making people happy. And with light, xylophone-inspired beats, their most popular track “It’s Strange” aims to do just that. The Chicago-based pair is composed of Freddy Kennett and Robby Hauldren. In 2016, Snapchat listed Louis the Child as one of three EDM artists to watch, and Mixmag said the duo is one of eight artists taking American dance music to the next level in 2016. Louis the Child has opened for several EDM artists, including Kaskade, Madeon and this year’s Block Party co-headliner the Chainsmokers.

PUBLIC will round out the Mayfest lineup with its pop/rock sound. In high school, the trio won a battle of the bands. Today, the band has opened for indie and alternative rockers like Walk the Moon, Twenty One Pilots and Neon Trees. PUBLIC has also produced Daytrotter and Audiotree live sessions and performed in festivals like SxSW, CMJ and Bunbury.

Entry to Mayfest is free to all undergraduate students with an SU or SUNY-ESF ID. Graduate students and College of Law students can purchase Mayfest tickets for $23 at Schine Box Office, according to the release. SU and SUNY-ESF students can also purchase up to two guest tickets for $23 each at the box office with an ID.

Students over the age of 21 can get a wristband for Mayfest’s beer tent with a valid college or military ID and state-issued ID.
