Alexa Romero named ACC Co-Pitcher of the Week

Alexa Romero, pictured last year, has won all four of her decisions so far this season.
Sophomore pitcher Alexa Romero was named ACC Co-Pitcher of the Week after recording the second perfect game in Syracuse (5-3) history. Romero shared the honor with Florida State’s Kylee Hanson.
Against Sacramento State on Saturday, Romero didn’t allow a base runner among any of the 15 batters she faced. She struck out nine in SU’s 8-0 win.
Romero also played an important role in SU’s win over Cal Poly on Monday. After AnnaMarie Gatti gave up two runs in the first inning against the Mustangs, Romero came in during the second inning in relief. She proceeded to pitch six hitless innings, allowing just one baserunner and striking out nine. Syracuse came back to win 4-2 as Romero won her fourth straight decision to start the year.
Romero is 4-0 and has a 1.47 ERA. She also ranks second in the ACC in strikeouts with 38.
