Abbey Miller had 22 saves on Friday, but the one shot she didn't save proved fatal for SU.

Syracuse (11-18-2, 10-6-1 CHA) fell to Lindenwood (9-17-1, 7-10-0) 1-0 on Friday, failing to capitalize on a possible two points in the conference. SU was shutout for the eighth time this season, a week removed from scoring 13 goals in two wins against Rochester Institute of Technology.

Despite being outscored by opponents 79-54 this season and being outshot by the Orange 31-23 in tonight’s game, the Lions, led by a goal midway through the third period by Taylor Girard, scraped past SU for a victory.

In its last eight matchups against Lindenwood, the Orange had outscored the Lions 30-3. The narrative was different in tonight’s matchup.

SU failed to get going offensively, but it was not because of a lack of opportunities. The Orange attempted 50 shots, 31 on goal, but could not find the net against Lindenwood goalie Jolene deBruyn.

Syracuse also struggled on the powerplay, failing to take advantage of its four opportunities.

Abbey Miller had another dominant performance in the net for the Orange, saving 22 shots on the night. SU played well on the defensive end, killing Lindenwood’s two power-play opportunities. The Orange also improved on what has been a reoccurring issue throughout the season, penalties. SU committed two penalties on the night, after a combined 20 in the series against RIT a week ago.

SU currently sits in third in the conference, four points behind both Robert Morris and Mercyhurst, who are tied for first. The Orange will matchup against Lindenwood again tomorrow afternoon, and then travel back to Tennity Ice Pavilion for its final regular season series of the year against Robert Morris.
