Head on down to the Heroy Geology Laboratory this Tuesday to play bingo while learning about food insecurity. Sustainability offices from colleges in the Syracuse area collaborated on the event to raise awareness in the community.

Grocery Bingo
Play to win free groceries at Grocery Bingo on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. in Heroy Geology Laboratory 001. Hendricks Chapel is partnering with the sustainability offices of Le Moyne College, SUNY College of Environmental College and Forestry, SUNY Upstate Medical University and Syracuse University Sustainability Management to put on the event. The organizers aim to raise awareness for food insecurity within the central New York community and to support those in need of food. Grocery Bingo is free and open to all undergraduate students.

A&S Alumni Academy: Sonic Signatures: The Rise and Fall of Alternative Music in the 1990s Step back into the ‘90s at a virtual seminar led by Professor Theo Cateforis on Wednesday from 5 to 6 p.m. Learn about ‘90s alternative rock music and its influence on culture and the music world. People can sign up on SU’s website.

Café con Leche: Salsa Workshop
Celebrate Latine Heritage Month by learning how to salsa dance. All levels of experience are welcomed by Armando Martinez for a dance lesson on Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The workshop is part of the Café con Leche series and is free to the campus community.

Oktoberfest at Harvey’s Garden
Raise your steins and celebrate Oktoberfest at Harvey’s Garden starting on Sept. 16. The celebration runs through Oct. 1 with beer tastings, live Polka music, a Buffalo Bills tailgate party, trivia and more.



Free Drawing Class
Develop your art skills with a free weekly drawing class on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. Hosted at the Salmon River Fine Arts Center, SU alumna Ann Buchau teaches the classes. Supplies are available and all ages and abilities are welcome. The class can be attended in person or virtually through Zoom and is limited to 20 students per session.
